How the Blanket Row Tracker Works
The Blanket Row Tracker works in 4 steps.
- 1
Set the blanket target
Enter the total rows, such as 180, into Target Goal.
- 2
Write the section plan
List sections in the notes box: "Rows 1–20 border band / 21–160 center / 161–180 border band".
- 3
Count rows per session
Tap + Count or press Space after each finished row.
- 4
Note session progress
Add the date and rows done to the notes after each session. Everything saves in your browser.
Blanket Row Tracker Formula
The Blanket Row Tracker formula converts a blanket size into rows and projects the finish.
Target rows = Blanket length (in) × Rows per inch
Sessions left = (Target rows − Rows done) ÷ Rows per session
- Rows per inch
- Row gauge ÷ 4
- Rows per session
- Your usual rows in one sitting
Worked example: A 60-inch (152 cm) throw at 2 dc rows per inch needs 60 × 2 = 120 rows. After 45 rows at 5 rows per session, sessions left = (120 − 45) ÷ 5 = 15.
Blanket Row Tracker Conversion Table
The Blanket Row Tracker conversion table converts common blanket sizes into row counts for double crochet (dc) at 8 rows per 4 inches and single crochet (sc) at 18 rows per 4 inches.
| Blanket | Size (in) | Size (cm) | dc rows | sc rows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lovey | 12 × 12 | 30.5 × 30.5 | 24 | 54 |
| Baby | 30 × 36 | 76.2 × 91.4 | 72 | 162 |
| Throw | 50 × 60 | 127 × 152.4 | 120 | 270 |
| Twin | 66 × 90 | 167.6 × 228.6 | 180 | 405 |
| Queen | 90 × 100 | 228.6 × 254 | 200 | 450 |
| King | 108 × 100 | 274.3 × 254 | 200 | 450 |
Row counts cover length only. Subtract border length before setting your target.
What is a Blanket Row Tracker?
A blanket row tracker is a long-term tracker for afghans and throws that records target rows, sections and repeated row sequences across the whole blanket. The Crochet Stitch Counter Blanket Row Tracker keeps a 150-row project organized over weeks or months.
Blankets take more rows than any other common crochet project. A queen-size blanket in double crochet (dc) runs to about 200 rows. Most crocheters work them in many short sessions, and every session starts with the question "which row am I on?"
The tracker stores the row count, the target and a section plan in one place.
